Algebraic Integer Discrete Cosine Transform Processor

A Two-Dimensional Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) IP core based on multi-dimensional algebraic integer representation of the basis functions. The integration of the error-free, high-precision features of the algebraic integer with multiplier-less hardware architecture enables an efficient implementation. The processor, fabricated with TSMC CMOS 0.18µm technology with an area of 1.8mmx1.2mm, is fully CCITT compliant. Power consumption of the IP core is only 4.8mW at a throughput of 75M pixel/second.
